Fitness Assessment

At Stout-Heart Fitness, everything we do is developed specially for each individual we work with. We take the time to understand you, or your child’s, current condition and how it affects everyday life.

It all starts with a comprehensive fitness assessment that helps us recommend a training plan tailored to your, or your child’s, needs whether that be a general fitness regimen, neurodivergent fitness training, or a therapeutic training program to address chronic pain issues.

Because we emphasize understanding our clients and athletes before starting any program, every initial visit begins with our assessment process. Evaluating your current situation thoroughly takes time, so please use the form on this page to schedule an appointment.

The Neurodivergent Fitness Assessment Process

For neurodivergent individuals, we begin with a meeting that includes you and your child whenever possible. We’ve found that this approach creates the highest probability of success. However, if your child is uncomfortable or unable to discuss their goals, we can adapt by engaging them with a casual tour of our facilities while we discuss key topics such as:

  • Your child’s sensory needs and preferences
  • How they interpret or respond to audible and visual cues and instructions
  • Their unique characteristics and personality traits
  • What you hope to accomplish for them

We also conduct a physical assessment focusing on your child’s movement, balance, and strength if they feel comfortable doing so on the first visit. Using what we learn, we design a comprehensive, personalized program that matches their capabilities, strengths, and comfort level — giving them the best chance for success and improvement.

Whether you are a parent, sibling, friend or guardian, Stout-Heart Fitness is dedicated to helping your neurodivergent child or loved one begin a journey to a fuller, more rewarding life.

General Fitness Assessment

If you’re seeking to improve your overall fitness, our team will take the time to understand your situation and formulate a plan that will bring you to the level of fitness that you desire.

During your assessment, we focus on the following:

  • Identifying those areas you want to improve, both physical and mental
  • Evaluate your past and current fitness activities
  • Determine what goals you want to achieve

Next, we move to the “hands-on” portion of the assessment. Here, we work directly with you to determine if you use the proper muscles or joints for specific movements. With this information, we create a customized plan to strengthen and retrain your body to use them and achieve a greater level of fitness.

The Chronic Pain and Rehab Assessment

If you’re seeking relief from chronic pain that traditional methods, including pharmaceuticals, haven’t fully addressed, our team will take the time to understand your situation and formulate a plan that works for you.

During your chronic pain and rehab assessment, we focus on the following:

  • The source of your pain: occupational, accident-related, sports-related injuries, or other
  • What you’ve tried so far and the results
  • How pain impacts your daily life
  • What goals you want to achieve

Next, we move to the “hands-on” portion of the assessment. Here, we work directly with you to identify the source of your pain and whether you use the proper muscles or joints for specific movements. With this information, we create a customized plan to strengthen and retrain your body to use them effectively and move more freely.
